These are unprecedented times, the streets are empty, quiet and those people that are out are trying to keep their distance from each other.
We are incredibly lucky because we can continue to work for our clients from our home office pod. This is not the same for many other business owners and many of our clients.
That does not mean there is nothing you can do!
This is the perfect opportunity for you to work on your business.
Once people settle into their new way of life they will be looking for businesses they want to work with once life returns to normal. Not only can you work on your online business to get the things done you have never had time to do. Your potential customers will be doing the same, right now they may be researching working from home, fitness and well being. But in the coming weeks they will be planning all the projects they have put off because they did not have time to do them, such as, home decor, holidays and getting out with family and friends and enjoying a drink or meal together. Many of the bigger companies have laid off their marketing and advertising staff so this is a perfect opportunity for smaller business to catch up with them.
Now is the perfect time to update your website, sort out your social media, and review your marketing strategy.
1. Review your marketing strategy
Do you have a marketing strategy in place?
Start by listing your business goals and deciding on the things you would like to focus on in the future. You can put together a 3 month, 6 month or even a 12 month marketing strategy.
2. Review your social media platforms
Is your LinkedIn profile up to date?
Is it still necessary to post on Twitter or Facebook?
How can you improve your Instagram page?
Now is the time to review each of your social media platforms. Go through each page to check that the information displayed is still relevant, and spend some time creating a list of content ideas.
3. Get your website looking up-to-scratch
One of those jobs that business owners often put to the bottom of the priority pile - tweaking/updating their website. It is important to keep your website updated to improve SEO, however so many websites I have found have not been updated for months, or sometimes even years! So get above your competitors and update it. Maybe you have different services you offer, or you can create landing pages for future promotions? Look at the websites of big brands in your industry for inspiration.
We provide website design, development and updates as well as bespoke SEO strategies.
Just think, now is the time your competition may be giving up.
Be prepared for a strong come back once the lock down is over with.
4. Blog Blog and Blog Some More!
A great way of keeping your website updated regularly is blogging. It shows your audience you are an expert, while also providing you with content to share to your social media platforms, and driving more traffic to your website and improving your position in the search engine results.
Spend time writing lots of different blog posts, ready to upload to your website on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.
Blog post ideas:
how-to articles
top tips
industry news
staff profiles
client case studies
insights into your industry
If you do not currently have a blog we can install one on your account, we also write blogs, which we currently can do for many of our clients, please contact us if it's something you would like us to undertake for you.
5. Gather Testimonials
It is not just you who now has lots of free time, but your customers do too.
With the majority of people on lockdown makes this the perfect opportunity to ask your past and present customers to take the time to create a testimonial for you. Compile these together to put on your website and across your social media platforms.
6. Look at your analytics
Small businesses often do not have the time to review their marketing efforts.
Do you have a Google Analytics account for your website?
Dive in and take a look at who your audience are, the time they are spending on your website, and on which pages. Google Analytics provides an endless amount of site statistics.
7. Social Media Analytics
Also look at your social media analytics. If you have a business page on Instagram, you can see your insights, which includes the times of day and days of the week when your followers are most active.
On Instagram, as well as Facebook and LinkedIn, you can look at the engagement (likes, comments, reach/impressions, etc.) of each of your posts. You can look for similarities in the posts which have the best engagement, and whether the same content did as well across all platforms.
By analysing what has been working well, you can create a strategy for future posts which will generate more engagement with your business.
We produce Google reports for our clients undertaking our SEO services.
However, we are more than happy to product Google analytic reports for any business hosting their website with us.
Stay Safe , Stay Strong
